Advanced Apprenticeship in Business and Administration Level 3

Apprenticeships are designed for people who have left full-time education and are employed with the occupation or sector.  This apprenticeship leads to a range of qualifications relevant to business and administration.

Government guidelines state that apprentices should be employed for at least 30 hours a week including their time in College; there is flexibility so please discuss individual circumstances at interview.

Entry Requirements

Although there are no formal entry requirements regarding qualifications or experience gained, employers may wish to outline their own in line with their current recruitment practice.  It is essential, however, that all apprentices recruited have both the ability and the commitment to achieve all of the outcomes of the Business and Administration Apprenticeship.

Duration

Thre is no fixed duration for this course, the length of time taken depending on the ability of the individual apprentice and the employer requirements.  The minimum duration, however, will be six months.

Content

Competence Based Element: NVQ Level 3 Certificate in Business and Administration. There is a choice of over fifty units of competence and the appropriate units are agreed between the employer, the apprentice and Kingston Employer Services at Kingston College.  This ensures the apprenticeship delivers skills designed around the employer’s business needs.

Knowledge Based Element: Level 3 Certificate in Principles of Business and Administration. This focuses on the knowledge and understanding which underpin a wide range of work and the  interpersonal and technical skills needed by administrators.

Functional Skills: English at Level 2 and Maths at Level 2

Progression

Successful completion of the Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship may lead onto a Foundation degree, specialist administration roles such as legal or educational administrator, or management of administration functions.
