This Apprenticeship is a work-based learning qualification and is suitable for those who undertake management-related activities. The aim of this qualification is to provide individuals with an opportunity to demonstrate the skills and knowledge needed for a career in management. Government guidelines state that apprentices should be employed for at least 30 hours a week including their time in College; there is flexibility, so please discuss individual circumstances at interview.
To achieve the full award, candidates must complete four mandatory units and three optional units. Mandatory units include:
- Manage your own resources and professional development
- Provide leadership in your area of responsibility
- Allocate and monitor the progress and quality of work in your area of responsibility
- Ensure health and safety requirements are met in your area of responsibility
- Promote equality of opportunity and diversity in your area of responsibility
- Build and manage teams
- Encourage innovation
- Participate in meetings
- Lead meetings
- Manage a budget
- Plan change
- Manage the environmental impact of your work
- Implement change
- Develop a productive working relationship with your colleagues
- Take effective decisions
- Communicate information and knowledge
- Recruit, select and keep colleagues
- Manage a project
- Provide learning opportunities for colleagues
- Monitor and solve customer service problems
- Hel team members address problems affecting their performance
- Work with others to improve customer service.
Assessment
Assessment is workplace-based and tailored to the needs of the individual. Assessment is made in the following areas:
- A competence-based element, resulting in a competency certificate
- A technical element, leading to a technical skills certificate.
- A skills element resulting in an English, Maths and ICT skills certificate.

A minimum of twelve months
Course Costs
If you are under 19 on the first day of training, you are fully funded. All other learners are asked for an employer contribution of £250.
