Bookkeeping and Accounts – City & Guilds Level 1

This course is intended for individuals who wish to gain a level 1 qualification as a starting point for a career in bookkeeping and account.

Entry Requirements

GCSE at grade iC in English and maths preferred.

Course Duration

10 weeks.  2.5 hours per week, Wednesday 9.30am-12pm.  Exam taken in week 11.

Content

Completion of financial documents such as invoices and credit notes, recording of cash and credit transactions in books of original entry, preparing bank reconiliations, under the petty cash imprest systems and trial balances. Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) Diploma – Level 3 and Level 4

These courses are designed for employees who wish to improve their career prospects by gaining professinal qualifications.  The skills gained in the AAT account qualifications apply to a wide range of accounting and finance positions and are recognised in many countries around the world.

Entry Requirements

Diploma for Accounting Technicians level 3 – candidates should have successfully completed the AAT Accounting Certificate Level 2 or equivalent Level 2 accounting qualification, and be AAT registered.

Diploma for Accounting Technicians level 4 – candidates should have successfully completed the AAT Advanced Diploma or equivalent Level 3 accounting qualification, and be AAT registered.

Duration

Part time day or evening, September – June.

Level 3 options: Thursdays 9.30am-3.30pm or Monday and Thursday evenings 6.30pm-9.00pm

Level 4 options: Mondays 9.30am-3.30pm or Wednesday and Thursday  evenings 6.30pm-9.00pm

Content

Level 3 Diploma: Administrative and management processes, preparing final accounts for small busineses, cost accounting recording, preparing reports and returns.

Level 4 Diploma: complex management accounting tasks and general management skills, drafting financial statements.  Specialisation in specifric subject areas.
