This apprenticeship develops the knowledge and skills of those working with IT systems and software. The candidate will become competent in the use of the particular systems and software required in their job role, develop skills to enhance their personal and team effectiveness through the use of IT and help them gain an insight into the wider use of IT across their organisation. Candidates will be allocated an assessor who will visit in the workplace to plan progress and set tasks to complete, and they will need to attend College one full day a week.
Government guidelines state that apprentices should be employed for at least 30 hours a week; there is flexibility so please discuss individual circumstances at interview.
Entry Requirements
Candidates will need to be over 16 years of age and working in a role which requires use of IT systems such as sales and marketing or in office administration.
Content
Mandatory units include:
- Improving productivity using IT
- Understanding the potential of IT
- Developing personal and team effectiveness using IT
Optional units include:
- Word processing software
- Spreadsheet software
- Presentation software
- Desktop Publishing software
- Website software
- Database software
Duration
One year, part time. Attendance at College once a week for the majority of the day – some independent study will also be expected.
